Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new thrust producing unit, in particular for use in multi-rotor aircrafts, which exhibits improved aerodynamics and performance in transversal air flow conditions.SOLUTION: A thrust producing unit 3d is for producing thrust in a predetermined direction. The thrust producing unit 3d comprises at least two rotor assemblies 7d, 8d and a shrouding 6d that accommodates at most one of the at least two rotor assemblies 7d, 8d. The shrouding 6d defines a cylindrical air duct 20 that is axially delimited by an air inlet region 20e and an air outlet region 20f. The air inlet region 20e exhibits an undulated geometry in the circumferential direction of the cylindrical air duct 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
