PURPOSE: To improve the operating efficiency and simplify the structure in a thrust supporting device for supporting a turning scroll member in a scroll compressor, etc., so that it cannot be rotated.

CONSTITUTION: A rolling bearing 10 capable of supporting thrust and radial loads is installed at an off-centered position of a rotary drive shaft 7 rotatably supported on a stationary member 6. A turning scroll member 2 is installed on the rolling bearing 10. The rolling bearing 10 is constituted of a combination of a four-point contact ball bearing 12 and a cylindrical roller bearing 11, or a single double-row tapered roller bearing, etc. Then a rotation preventing mechanism 13 similar to the Oldham's coupling is provided between the stationary member 6 and the turning scroll member 2. That is, guide grooves 15, 16 intersecting each other at right angles are provided respectively on the stationary member 6 and the turning scroll member 2, and a joint member 14 having key parts 14a, 14b engaging the guide grooves 15, 16 is provided.
