Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a Ti alloy excellent in machinability without deteriorating its strength and hot workability by combinedly adding suitable amounts of Zr and S and limiting Zr/S.
CONSTITUTION: A Ti alloy excellent in machinability comprises, by weight, 1.5 to 8% Al, 1.5 to 6% V, 0.1 to 4.0% Zr and 0.01 to 1.00% S, furthermore satisfying the relation of Zr(%)≥0.7S(%) and the balance Ti with impurity elements.
