To provide a bill/coin separation device preventing coins from jamming in a slot in a path when a coin identification member identifies coins.

A pair of a fixed roller group and a movable roller group separating bills from coins and moving them closer or away from each other are provided. The movable roller group has a support frame 24 secured thereto. A coin identification sensor 23 is mounted on the support frame 24 rotatably on a plane. A drawer member 45 is secured to the lower position of the support frame 24. When the movable roller group moves to a separate position, a latching projection provided at the movable roller group 7 is used to pull out the drawer member 45 so as to rotate the coin identification member 23 in a plane direction and vibrate the sensor strongly.
