To provide a ticket and coin inserting inlet and a ticket and coin separation device with the ticket & coin inserting inlet capable of avoiding blocking of tickets & coins.

The ticket and coin inserting inlet 12 comprises a first opening 19 as an inlet for inserting sorting tickets and coins C, a second opening 20 as an outlet, and a guide 25 interconnecting the first and second openings 19 and 20. The guide 25 is arranged so as to gradually taper from the first opening 19 to the second opening 20. A picking-up roller 26 and a free roller 27 are arranged to oppose with each other at the most narrow section of the guide 25. The picking-up roller 26 is rotatably driven in an anti-feeding direction A of the sorting tickets and coins C, and the free roller 27 is freely rotatable in the anti-feeding direction A and a feeding direction B of the sorting tickets and coins C. The sorting tickets and coins C inserted from the first opening 19 is picked up in the anti-feeding direction A of the sorting tickets and coins C by bringing into contact with the picking-up roller 26.
