Abstract:

To improve a device for detecting ions in the flight tube of a time-of-flight mass spectrometer.

This device is composed of: the flight tube 26 having a main axis 27; and a controllable electrode 30 having at least one state to deflect the ions in the flight tube from a trajectory practically running along the main axis to a trajectory practically perpendicular to the main axis; and an ion detector 40 disposed so as to accept the ions deflected to the trajectory perpendicular to the main axis in the flight tube.
