Title:
Time-of-flight mass spectrometer
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP6287410
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a time-of-flight type mass spectroscope that perform high-precision energy convergence of ions in a broad mass-to-charge ratio range in consideration of the difference in mass-to-charge ratio, thereby enhancing mass resolution.SOLUTION: Plural auxiliary electrodes 15 are arranged along an ion optical axis C direction, and different voltages are allowed to be applied from a pulse voltage applying unit 24 to the respective auxiliary electrodes 15. The pulse voltage applying unit 24 applies a predetermined voltage to the auxiliary electrode 15 at a timing when an ion accelerated in an acceleration region between an extraction electrode 12 and an acceleration electrode 13 reaches the installation position of the auxiliary electrode 15, thereby forming auxiliary acceleration electric field having a non-linear potential gradient whose slope is shaper to the entrance side of a flight space 17. This electric field is close to an ideal potential gradient curve, so that proper potential energy variation can be applied to ions each mass-to-charge ratio and the energy convergence can be realized.
