A name of the ID holder and the name of a company the ID holder belongs to are written on the ID card. The ID card is read by the time recorder and then a transaction is selected on the basis of information stored in the card. The selected transaction is performed, and a result of the transaction and the information in the card are transmitted to a predetermined destination and are indicated on a display. Working hour information is obtained by referring table using the name of the ID holder and the name of the company the ID holder belongs to, so as to indicate a late-coming, for example. Alternatively, working hours and a destination address can be determined by obtaining external information using the name of the company the ID holder belongs to. Various ID card holders who have different working hours and belong to different companies can share single time recorder, thereby simplifying operation and reducing cost.
