PURPOSE: To improve the function of a timer with a simple structure by evacuating numerical values taken in an input capture register to a memory circuit.
CONSTITUTION: When input capature demand occurs in a signal of an outside clock TCLK terminal during counting operation, the numerial value of a timer counter TCNT is copied in an input capture register TCPR, an interruption is generated, and values of the register TCPR are thus copied and evacuated to a work area (a storage circuit). Consequently, the register TCPR can be used to satisfy a following generated interruption demand from the TCLK terminal. The value of the register TCPR may be stored in the storage circuit of a register, etc., by a hard ware regarding the process. In this way, time measuring can be done any optional times by only one register TCPR and consequently the function of a timer can be improved while the circuit being simplified.
