Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely lubricate a timing chain hung on cam shaft sprockets in accordance with an operating condition of an engine.
SOLUTION: The sprockets 15, 16 are fixed to end parts of cam shafts 12, 13 supported on a cylinder head 23 through cam shaft holders 25, 26, and the timing chain 17 is hung on the sprockets 15, 16. An oil drain port 25b for supplying the relief oil of a hydraulic control valve 34 to the timing chain 17 and an oil jet 36 for jetting the high-pressure oil from the hydraulic control valve 34 to the timing chain 17 are provided, so that the oil is supplied only from the oil drain port 25b in low speed rotation of the engine, and supplied from both of the oil jet 36 and the oil drain port 25b in high-rotation of the engine.
