Title:
TIN BASED ALLOY CONTAINING TIN-TITANIUM BASED COMPOUND, PRODUCTION METHOD THEREFOR AND PRECURSORY BODY OF TRINIOBIUM STANNIDE SUPERCONDUCTING WIRE ROD USING THE ALLOY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3946966
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Sn based alloy containing an Sn-Ti based compound in which the fine, granular Sn-Ti based compound is uniformly dispersed into the Sn based alloy, and shrinkage cavities are not generated on an ingot in casting, and a production method therefor.
SOLUTION: In the method for producing the Sn based alloy containing fine Sn-Ti based compound, Sn is heated and melted at 1,300 to 1,500°C in a vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere. Ti of 0.1 to 5% is added thereto, and they are heated and melted. This molten metal is cast into a mold made of copper directly or via a socket compound. The Sn based alloy containing 0.1 to 5% Ti, and containing the Sn-Ti based compound in which the maximum grain size is ≤30 μm, and the average grain size is 20 to 15 μm is obtained by the above method. Further, the precursory body of an Mb3Sn wire rod is obtained by an internal diffusion process using the same Sn based alloy. Thus, the Nb3Sn wire rod by an internal diffusion process made by using the Sn based alloy exhibits excellent superconducting characteristics. Further, by this method, drawing cavities are not generated in the production of an ingot.
