Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the variation of the brightening current density in a plating soln. by replenishing tin ion while controlling the total amt. of halide ions in the acidic tin plating soln. consisting essentially of phenolsufonic acid in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:A steel material is traveled in an acidic tin plating soln. consisting essentially of phenolsulfonic acid and continuously electroplated with tin. In this case, an insoluble anode is used, and tin ion is replenished by dissolving tin oxide. In this tin plating method, the total amt. of such halide ions as Cl<->, Br<-> and I<-> in the plating soln. is controlled to 4-50-ppm. The total amt. is controlled by replenishing tin ion using tin oxide with the concn. controlled below the concn. shown by 4V1/Wsno
