Abstract:
This tip-deflection-operable catheter has: a catheter shaft (10) which has a flexible tip portion (10A) and in which a first lumen (11L) and a second lumen (12L) are arranged so as to oppose each other; a first operation wire (41); a second operation wire (42); and high-strength rod-like members (51), (52) that each have a central axis on a second virtual plane (P2) and that are embedded in a constituent resin of the catheter shaft (10) so as to oppose each other with the central axis of the catheter shaft (10) interposed therebetween, wherein, in a three-point bending test conducted for the catheter shaft (10) in which these rod-like members are embedded, when a load applied to bend the shaft by 1 mm along a first virtual plane (P1) is defined as (F1) and a load applied to bend the shaft by 1 mm along the second virtual plane (P2) is defined as (F2), the ratio of (F2)/(F1) is 1.0-3.5. This catheter has excellent blood vessel followability while ensuring planeness in a change of shape of the tip portion.
