To provide a tire mounting and demounting apparatus, which can prevent damages on a tire and prevents fracture in a reinforcement material such as wires and carbon fibers even when the tire has high stiffness, and in which a tire can be easily and rapidly demounted from a wheel and a tire can be mounted on a wheel.

The tire mounting and demounting apparatus includes: a turntable 4 that holds a lower rim of a wheel in a detachable state and drives to rotate the wheel about a vertical rotation axial line L1; a bead guiding member 6 that guides a lower bead or an upper bead of a tire to be fitted to an upper rim of the wheel, and guides the upper bead of a tire fitted to an upper rim of a wheel to be demounted from the upper rim; and a bead roller 21 having a pressing surface like a circumferential face of a truncated cone having a diameter decreasing further the roller goes away from the rotation axial line L1, the bead roller that presses the upper bead of a tire mounted on a wheel from above by use of a portion of the pressing surface, at a position in a downstream side in a rotation direction of the turntable from a position where the bead guide member is disposed.
