Title:
TIRE SUPPORT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2004051088
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a lighter-weight tire supporter for a run flat tire while keeping strength and durability.

When air in a pneumatic tire 14 is deflated by puncturing, a toroidal metal wheel 16 arranged inside the pneumatic tire 14 supports a load of a run flat driving vehicle. The wheel includes protruding parts 30A, 30B protruded outward in the radial direction when viewed from its cross section and side parts 30D, 30E extending from the protruding parts 30A, 30B. The radial inside end of the side parts 30D, 30E assembled in a rim 12 by a leg 28. A plurality of small holes 32 formed by punching are formed in the wheel 16. A rate of hole area of the holes 32 is 1-50 % from the strength of the wheel 16 and an angle of lightening. Weight reduction can be attained while keeping the strength and durability of the wheel 16 by forming a plurality of holes 32 without any change of the thickness of the wheel 16.
