Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the rolling resistance of a tire by setting the width of a belt within a specific range of tread width on a ground contacting surface, and specifying the thickness of each side wall, the range of number density of steel cords per 10 cm in each belt layer, and the impact resilience of a bead filler in a bead portion at a specific Shore hardness at room temperature.
CONSTITUTION: In this radial tire, in which steel cords 12 in one layer are arranged to intersect steel cords 12 in the other layer, the width of a belt 2 is 60 to 80% of the width BL of a tread 1 on a ground contacting surface. The thickness (d) of a side wall 4 is ≤2.0 mm, the steel cords 12 in the belt layers 2a, 2b have a cord density of 30 to 70 per 10 cm, and a bead filler 7 in a bead portion 5 has a impact resilience of ≥40%, particularly ≥45%, at a Shore hardness of 50 to 75, particularly ≤70 at room temperature. The tire can thus be improved in rolling resistance and passing noises and good running comfortability can be assured.
