PURPOSE: A tissue metabolism activator that contains a specific quinone derivative, thus being effective on the treatment for cerebral circulation diseases and heart failure without side effects.
CONSTITUTION: The activator contains a quinone derivative of the formula (n is 4W22) such as 6-(13-hydroxytridecyl)-2,3-dimethoxy-5-methyl-1,4-benzoquinone (n=13). Cerebral apoplexy and cardiopathy are closely related to ischmic changes in a brain and heart and a typical example of the ischmic changes is the reduction in energy metabolism. The tissue metabolism activator in the present invention can improve the lowered energy metabolism in tissues and causes very little side effects. Among compounds represented by the formula, those with an n of 11W22 are preferred, which are novel compounds.
