Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the titanium and titanium alloy excellent in discoloration resistance in outdoor use.
CONSTITUTION: This titanium and titanium alloy excellent in discoloration resistance have a plating layer consisting of one or ≥2 kinds of metal selected from Ni, Cu, Cr, Au, Ag, platinum-group element (Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Ir and Pt) or an alloy consisting essentially of the metals and having ≤0.1μm thickness on the surface layer of an oxide film. Further, the metal and alloy are heat- treated below the β transformation point of the titanium and titanium alloy in steam at ≤450°C, in a rare gas or in vacuum. Titanium and titanium alloy suitable to a building material and excellent in discoloration resistance are obtained in this way.
