Title:
TITANIUM ALLOY SLAB FOR HOT ROLLING AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2015080793
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a titanium alloy slab for hot rolling which enables surface property thereof after being hot rolled to be kept favorable even when omitting a blooming process or a finishing process, and to provided a method of producing the titanium alloy slab for hot rolling.SOLUTION: The titanium alloy slab for hot rolling is provided in which: a surface layer of a surface corresponding to a rolling surface, of a titanium alloy slab is subjected to melt and resolidification process of at least one time after slab melting; the depth of a melted and resolidified layer is 3 mm or more and is less than 15 mm; the structure of the melted and resolidified layer is an acicular structure; and the minor axis-direction width of the acicular structure is 10 μm or less. The titanium alloy slab is preferably melted by electron beam remelting or plasma remelting. Further, the melting of a surface layer is preferably performed by combining one kind, or two kinds or more of electron beam heating, induction heating and laser heating. Furthermore, the melted part is preferably set to be vacuum environment.
