Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide titanium carbonitride powder of uniform and coarse particles which gives a uniform sintered compact with respect to titanium carbonitride powder to be used as hard materials such as cermet, cemented carbide and ceramics consisting of titanium carbonitride, to provide titanium carbonitride powder of uniform and coarse particles in the field of titanium carbonitride to be used for an electrically conductive polymer or the like, and to provide a production method therefor. SOLUTION: In the titanium carbonitride powder, as the raw material, titanium oxide and carbon are used, and one or two kinds selected from Co and Ni and contained in 0.1 to 0.3 wt.% of the titanium carbonitride, and the range of the particle size thereof is >=1.0 μm in an Fsss value, and the index expressing the size of secondary particles to primary particles, i.e., Fsss value/(6/(specific gravity×BET(Brunauer-Emett-Teller) value)) is <=2.5.
