Title:
FUEL CELL AND ITS STARTING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0822834
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce startup time by achieving early stabilization of an output voltage at startup.

CONSTITUTION: This fuel cell 10 has PEFC modules 10A-10N constructed of fuel cells and connected in series with one another, and has a dummy resistance 20 to be connected in parallel with both an external load 16 to which an electromotive force is to be supplied and each PEFC module. The fuel cell 10 selectively switches a changeover switch 22 connected to the dummy resistance 20, and selectively connects either of the PEFC modules 10A-10N to the dummy resistance 20. When an external load starting switch is turned on, the dummy resistance 20 is first connected to the PEFC module 10A by the changeover switch 22 for a predetermined time, and then connected to each PEFC module in sequence. Thus each PEFC module is repeatedly connected to the dummy resistance 20 in sequence, and thereafter connected to the external load 16 so that the electromotive force is fed.
