Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To warrant a cell loss rate by observing the traffic of an active route and setting adaptively the size of a standby route thereby reserving a standby PC band area in response to an active VC band. SOLUTION: The network is provided with exchanges SW1-SW4, an routes VP1-VP4 are set among the exchanges SW1-SW4. A route dependent cell flow observing device RCo observes individually the traffic of plural active routes via the exchange SW1. Based on the observation result, standby route cell distribution memories CMI1 CMIn , a convolution device CI, and a virtual cell arrival distribution memory CMV set adaptively the size of the standby route. In the case of the dynamic CAC method, the exchanges SW1-SW3 on the active route observe the cell arrival distribution reached to the output buffer Bu according to a prescribed process. Then the cell loss rate after the reception of the VC setting on request is estimated to discriminate the reception.
