Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a composite roll extremely excellent in wear resistance, by integrating a sintering material composed of one or more kinds among the carbides of groups IV A, V A, and VI A elements in which grain size and volume ratio are limited and Ni- or Co-base alloy with the outside periphery of a core material and then carrying out sintering. CONSTITUTION:A metallic tube having an inside diameter larger than the outside diameter of a core material is loosely fitted concentrically as a canning material in the outside periphery of the core material. Then, a mixture of powdered sintering materials is filled into a void between the core material and the canning material, which is subjected to deaeration and then to sealing to annular open surfaces at both ends. Subsequently, hot isostatic sintering is applied to the above, so that powder mixture in the void is pushed together with the caning material against the outside surface of the core material, which is made dense and integrally sintered. After cooling, the canning material is mechanically removed, and then finishing to the prescribed dimension is carried out so as to form the composite roll. At this time, the above- mentioned sintering material in which the grain size of carbide is regulated to 10-300mum and carbide comprises 5-80% by volume ratio is used. By this invention, the composite roll in which the hard sintered alloy is built up by sintering on the surface and which is excellent in wear resistance can be obtained.
