Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of the title control system by facilitating the disconnection and the connection of a cache memory to two physical volumes forming a duplexed volume. CONSTITUTION:A cache-present state, a cache-present state and a cache-absent state are stored in a logical volume UCB4, a physical volume (X face) 5-1 and a physical volume (Y face) 5-2 respectively. A cache memory 3-1 is connected to a physical volume (Y face) 2-1; while a cache memory 3-2 is not connected to a physical volume (Y face) 2-2. The state 4 shows that the memory 3-1 set at the volume 2-1 is read. When a hit is secured, the data read out of the memory 3-1 is sent to an I/O read requester. In the case of a miss, the data is read out of the volume 2-1 and sent to the I/O read requester (together with an end report) and also stored in the memory 3-1.
