PURPOSE: To provide a device for preventing white smoke from being generated at a chimney in which an increasing in load of pressure loss in a discharged gas system is not produced, white smoke can be easily prevented and its maintenance work can be easily performed.
CONSTITUTION: A diluting cylinder 3 having a fine extremity end is fixed to an outer circumference of an extremity end of a chimney for use in discharging discharged gas containing sulfite gas. A spiral-shaped vane 6 is arranged between the inner surface of the diluting cylinder 3 and the outer surface of the chimney 1, compressed air supplied to the diluting cylinder 3 is injected from an upper end of it while the compressed air being circulated and the discharged gas in the chimney 1 is rapidly diluted so as to prevent white smoke from being generated.
