Abstract:

An alkaline storage battery, such as a sealed nickel-cadmium storage battery, has an improved current collector structure (17, 18, 24) forming a current path to the marginal edge of a spirally coiled positive electrode (52) of an electrode assembly (54). The current collector structure comprises a current collecting part (19, 25) and a lead part (20, 26, 27) thicker than the current collecting part. With this arrangement, the internal resistance of the storage battery is reduced, and high-rate discharge performance is achieved.
