Abstract:

PURPOSE: To aim to improve stability by incorporating a redistributed polycarbonate and TiO2 free from polysiloxane coatings.

CONSTITUTION: A straight chain or branched polycarbonate of the formula (wherein R is A1-Y-A2; A1 and A2 are each a single ring divalent aromatic group; and Y is a bridging group to separate A1 from A2 by one or two atoms) having a weight average molecular weight of 500-100,000 is subjected to melt equilibration treatment at 180-320°C for 5-30 minutes in the presence of 15-1,000 ppm carbonate redistributing catalyst to obtain a redistributed polycarbonate. With this redistributed polycarbonate is compounded 1-20 wt.% TiO2 free from polysiloxane coatings.
