PURPOSE: To provide a floating magnetic head wherein the head can comply with a small magnetic disk apparatus for high-frequency and high-density recording and the characteristic of the head is good.
CONSTITUTION: In a magnetic core, a laminated film 11 composed of an Fe- based magnetically soft thin film and a nonmagnetic film is provided between nonmagnetic substrates 13, 13' and a magnetic gap 14 is formed in the thickness direction of the laminated film 11. When the film thickness of the laminated film 11 is designated as Ft and the track width of the magnetic core is designated as Tw, 8μm≤Ft≤25μm, 4μm≤Tw≤10μm and Ft×A=Tw, where A is within a range of 0.4 to 0.8. An SiO2 film whose film thickness is within a range of 5 to 20nm and, in addition, a substratum film composed of a Cr film whose film thickness is within a range of 5 to 20nm are formed between the nonmagnetic substrates and the laminated film.
