Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the subject production method comprising a cost-saving process as a whole, environmentally-acceptable, and most importantly, essentially safe.
CONSTITUTION: This improved process for producing 1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7- tetraazacylooctane by nitrolysis of 1,3,5,7-tetraacetyl-1,3,5,7-tetraazacyclooctane(TAT), using nitric acid and nitrogen pentoxide or phosphorous pentoxide, comprises a step of using 5 to 10 g of the nitric acid per g TAT at about 20°C to about 45°C for about 4 hr to about 16 hr to achieve a quantitative yield of about 99% and a purity of 99% or more.
