Title:
NICKEL-CADMIUM COMBINED BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0676856
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce production man-hours and reduce the cost by constituting a nickel-cadmium combined battery with a sealed battery and at least one of a semi-sealed battery and an opened battery, and setting the ratio of the sealed battery to 38-95%.

CONSTITUTION: A nickel-cadmium combined battery is constituted of a sealed battery and at least one of an opened battery and a semi-sealed battery, and the ratio of the sealed battery is set to 38-95%. The voltage fluctuation occurs within a good range of 1.23-1.48V, the dispersion of the capacity rarely occurs, and the capacity of either battery satisfactorily exceeds 85% of the nominal capacity. Even though the float voltage is as low as 1.23V, the capacity is sufficient because the positive electrode potential is shifted to minus during floating. In the voltage fluctuation range, 1.23V is the theoretical electrolysis voltage of water, and 1.48V is the theoretical electrolysis voltage calculated from the enthalpy change. An inexpensive, reliable, and maintenance-free combined battery is obtained, and production man-hours can be reduced.
