PURPOSE: To touch up a coating through simple work in a short time by pressing an abutment plate against a coating to be touched up on an armoring material, and applying paint from the upper side of the plate which has holes bored therethrough to form a pattern.

CONSTITUTION: An armoring material 1, having a spot pattern 4 formed thereon by spraying of paint with a predetermined color over a decorative layer 2a formed by application of paint of another color to the surface of a hard cement chip board 2, requires touching-up as some part S of the spot pattern 4 is peeled. To touch up the material, an abutment plate 10 comprising an aluminum or plastic plate larger than the part S to be touched up, with holes 11... bored therethrough to form a spot pattern, is prepared. The abutment plate 10 is pressed onto the part S to be touched up, and the paint 3 is applied from the upper side of the plate 10 so that a spot pattern 15 similar to the arrangement of the holes 11 is formed on the surface of the decorative layer 2a of the part S to be touched up. The coating can thus be touched up without masking.
