Abstract:
PURPOSE:To lower pressure loss and to decrease the deformation which accompanies irradiation by providing partition plates for separating the cooling water flow passages of fuel bundles from each other between the fuel bundles. CONSTITUTION:A fuel assembly is provided with the partition plates 1 in the form of separating the cooling water flow passages in the height direction of a reactor core except in the regions in the upper part of the core where the voids are constant. Since the fuel bundles are hexagonal with a high- conversion burner reactor, a piece of the cell constituted by the partition plates 1 is hexagonal as well. The partition plates 1 are integrated as the entire part of the reactor to construct one honeycomb shape over the entire part. The pressure loss between the upper and lower parts of the fuel assembly is lowered as compared to the case of disposing the partition plates 1 over the entire region in the height direction of the reactor core at the time of using a channel box and the length of the partition plates 1 is shorter than in the case of installing the partition plates 1 over the entire region in the height direction of the reactor core and, therefore, the deformation quantity accompanying the irradiation of zircaloy is decreased.
