Title:
METHOD FOR RETREATING THERMAL RADIATION FIXING PART IN ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0777894
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce thermal energy received by a printing surface and to prevent the printing surface from being deteriorated and deformed by retreating a fixing part constituted of a halogen lamp and a reflection mirror, etc., from the printing surface in the case a paper is stopped being carried.

CONSTITUTION: As to a device fixing toner by thermal radiation from this electrophotographic printer without contacting; the fixing part incorporating an infrared ray generating device 1 and the reflection mirror 2 is rotated with a center at rotating fulcrum 8 by a solenoid 3 so as to be instantaneously retreated from the printing surface in the case the paper 5 is stopped being carried. By this constitution, a shutter need not be installed between the paper and the fixing part as is conventionally required, so that a cost can be reduced and also a light emitting device can be brought close to the printing surface so as to save electric power by that amount. Since the thermal energy collected on the printing surface is moved or is diffused by moving the fixing part from a position in the case of printing, the printing surface is prevented from being turned yellow and deformed by excessively receiving the thermal energy.
