PURPOSE: To obtain a preventive and therapeutic agent for hypofunction of an organ caused by operation or transplant of the organ, containing a compound having an endoserine receptor antagonism.
CONSTITUTION: A cyclic peptide of the formula (X and Y are each an α-amino acid residue; A is a D-acidic-α-amino acid residue; B is a neutral α-amino acid residue; C is an L-α-amino acid residue; D is a D-α-amino acid residue containing an aromatic ring) or its salt is contained as the active component. As the compound of the formula, cyclo{D-aspartic acid-N4-[20(indol-3-yl)ethyl-asparagine- aspartic acid-D-leucine-leucine-D-tryptophan} is exemplified. This medicine is useful for therapy and prevention of hypofunction of an organ such as the liver, the kidney, the heart, the lien or the pancreas, especially the liver. In the case of parenteral administration, e.g. injection, the dosage is 0.01 to 100mg/kg per one operation. In the case of oral administration, it is 5mg to 1g/kg.
