Abstract:
PURPOSE:To execute a high speed operation by executing a matching operation to respective reference character patterns in parallel. CONSTITUTION:The binarization information of the picture element of a picture memory 3 corresponding to the instruction of a counter 5 and the contents of a second storing element 42 are taken out. In the second storing element 42, weight information to be added when the binarization information of the picture element is '1' for every reference character pattern and to be subtracted when it is '0' is stored. For every increment of the contents of the counter 5, the binarization information of the corresponding picture element is read, the contents of the second storing element 42 are simultaneously read to invert a code in a code switching device correspondingly to the binarization information and add in adder groups 8. This operation is executed to all the picture elements to transmit the result to an output register 9, serially read, select the reference character pattern in which a value is maximum in a maximum value detector 9 and display on a display device 11.
