Abstract:
Methods are disclosed for the detection of proteases indicative of Alzheimer's disease which are capable of cleaving beta -amyloid precursor protein between methionine and aspartic acid residues. Inhibitors and substrates for these enzymes are also described which are used in the preparation of agents for the treatment of the disease.
