Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as a preparation intermediate of triazolylvinyl ketone compound, etc., easily, in high yield, by reacting a benzalpinacolone compound with a sulfinic acid compound.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula III (X is Cl or H; Y is alkyl, halogen or H) can be prepared by reacting the benzalpinacolone compound of formulaIwith the sulfinic acid compound of formula II in the presence of a solvent such as methanol at a temperature between 0°C and the boiling point of the solvent. The rate of reaction can be increased and the yield can be improved to some extent, by adding a base such as piperidine as a catalyst to the reaction system.
