PURPOSE: To increase the comfortability in riding a train by a method wherein the regenerative braking is released for every car passing through a non-electrized section when the brakes are applied, the braking is applied again when the train enters a live line section, and the delay in slowing down and the impact of the train are removed.
CONSTITUTION: When the train is travelling along a live line section, the output of voltage detectors 11-1 to 11-n on car units 1-1 to 1-n is to be "1". When a braking command is outputted from a regenerative braking command section 13 under the above condition, the logic control device 12 located on each car unit gives a regenerative braking command to the motor controlling circuit located on each car unit. When the lead car unit 1-1 reaches the forward position of a non-electrized section of a trolley wire, the output of a present train position detecting section 14 is turned to "1", and the regenerative braking command is released by a logic control device 12 when corresponding unit enters the non- electrized section. When the lead car unit 1-1 enters the live line section again, the output of the present train position detecting section 14 is turned to "0", and a regenerative braking command is outputted again.
