PURPOSE: To obtain a power saving type device high in reliability and excellent in serviceability by utilizing part of light emitted from a light source for pre- exposure, and providing a means which guides exposure light to a development unrequired area and a control means which controls said means.
CONSTITUTION: The pre-exposure lamp 8 is provided near the pre-exposure opening 47 of a copying machine frame and in parallel to the drum 6a of a process kit 36, and a reflecting umbrella 46 reflects the light from the pre-exposure lamp 8 toward a slit 48 as shown by an arrow (k) and toward the pre- exposure opening 47 as shown by an arrow (i). A slit shutter 38 is supported pivotally on a shutter shaft 44 fixed closely to the slit 48 on the opposite side of the pre-exposure lamp 8. The slit shutter 38 consists of three elements, i.e. a blank shutter 38a, the 2nd black erasure shutter 38b, and the 1st black erasure shutter 38c. Consequently, good-cutting and stable image width which allows positioning at W1 near a photoconductor 6 is obtained.
