PURPOSE: To produce a melting stock being available to precision casting of a metal, such as an active and high m.p. titanium and this alloy, as the metal having uniform and high quality in high efficiency and high productivity.
CONSTITUTION: By sucking up molten metal 14 executing levitation melting into a metal-made pipe 13, the melting stock is produced. An apparatus for this purpose is made to suck up the molten metal 14 into the sucking-up pipe 13 with the atmospheric pressure difference between a melting chamber 11 and a sucking-up chamber 12 by providing the melting chamber 11 and the sucking-up chamber 12 at the upper part thereof and hanging down the sucking-up pipe 13 in the sucking-up chamber 12 and bringing the lower end of the pipe into contact with the molten metal 14 in the melting chamber 11.
