PURPOSE: To provide a coated fabric having waterproofness and moisture permeability and excellent in retaining water resistance even after repeated washing.

CONSTITUTION: This method for producing a coated fabric excellent in retaining water resistance is to coat a specific polyurethane resin solution of a water miscible organic solvent on at least one side of a fiber substrate, immerse into water to extract the organic solvent solution and dry the resulting product. Here, the polyurethane resin comprises a polyfunctional monomer having two active hydrogens in a molecule, a polyfunctional monomer having three active hydrogens in a molecule and an organic diisocyanate.
