PURPOSE: To obtain the titled substance useful as an antineoplastic agent, from the cultured product obtained by culturing bacteria belonging to Gliocladium genus, Chaetomium genus or Trichoderma genus and capable of producing the titled substance.
CONSTITUTION: Bacteria belonging to Gliocladium genus, Chaetomium genus or Trichoderma genus and capable of producing gliocladic acid, e.g. Gliocladium virens SANK12679 strain, Chaetomium globosum SANK13379 strain, Trichoderma viride SANK13479 strain, etc. are cultured in a medium containing dextrin, glucose, soybean flour, peptone, yeast, inorganic salt, etc. under aeration and agitation at 20W30°C and weakly acidic or neutral conditions for 45W90hr. The cultured liquid is filtered, and the objective gliocladic acid is separated from the filtrate by using an adsorbent, etc.
