Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing an optical fiber wire capable of cooling the optical fiber even if the wire drawing of optical fiber is accelerated.
CONSTITUTION: An optical fiber preform is thermally spun in a wire drawing heating furnace to provide optical fiber 4, which is cooled in a cooler 1, then passed through a resin coater and coated with a resin to afford the objective optical fiber wire. In the cooler 1, the optical fiber 4 is brought into contact with a cooling liquid 7 while vibrating the cooling liquid by the vibration with a vibration generator 9 and then cooled.
