Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide a lightweight composted composition excellent in water and water permeabilities and water holding properties without any excessively strong alkalinity. CONSTITUTION:The composted composition is obtained by mixing a porous calcium silicate hydrate such as ALC powder with coffee bean pulps and tea grounds and composting the resultant mixture. This composted composition is excellent in water holding properties, water and air permeabilities and nutriment holding properties (cation exchange capacity). The composition is an excellent soil improving material, well balanced in fertilizer components and suitable for the growth of plants. Since the composition is not remarkably acidified in a composting process, the bacteriostatic function does not act and the shortening of the composting time can be expected. This composted composition provides a material capable of readily carrying out transportation, storage, etc., due to its light weight. Since this composition is odorless, it is capable of providing a material for household horticultural culture soil used in the interior of a house.
