Abstract:
PURPOSE:To extract compressed picture data of a partial picture without expanding compressed picture data of the entire picture. CONSTITUTION:Compressed picture data Dc include coded data being Huffman- coding of one DC coefficient and 63 sets of AC coefficients for each picture element block. The DC coefficient is decoded by a DC decoding circuit 224 and the AC coefficient is decoded by an AC decoding circuit 226 to identify a delimiter of the coded data. When the DC decoding circuit 224 decodes the coded data, a count-up signal CA is outputted and accumulated by a counter 210 and whether or not a picture element block during processing is a picture element block in an extracted area is discriminated by a CPU 42 based on the count CT. The decoded DC coefficient is extracted as to a head picture element block in the extracted area and the coded data are extracted as to the other picture element DC coefficient and the AC coefficient of all the picture element blocks.
