PURPOSE: To specify a bank for which a word line is to be selected, by decoding a bank address signal in a line address signal, to select the specified bank by using a bank status display signal as decode information, and to use this bank as an interchangeable unit of SDRAM.
CONSTITUTION: Based on a bank address signal contained in a first address signal, a selecting means 41 specifies a bank for which a word line is to be selected. A selecting means 42 selects the bank specified by the selecting means 41, by using signals showing active-inactive status of all banks 40-1, 40-2, 40-2y and 40-2x as decode information. According to this constitution, the selected bank can be used as an interchangeable unit of SDRAM having fewer banks and high convenience can be ensured.
