Abstract:
The present invention concerns a device and a process for cleansing polluted ground which is finely divided in a first stage and heat-treated in a second. The device for cleansing polluted ground has a pre-dividing unit (4, 5, 6) and a heat-treatment station. To provide a device and a process of the aforementioned kind which permits the higly efficient removal of volatile substances from the ground with a comparatively low power consumption and at low cost, the invention proposes that, with regard to the process, the ground be heated in the second stage without contact with an open flame, via a heat exchangers, to a temperature above the boiling point of water and below 400 DEG C and then the heated, finely divided ground substance be exposed to possibly superheated steam which removes the volatile components from the ground granules. Whith regard to the process, it is proposed that the heat treatment station be an evaporator (10) having heating devices (21, 11), circulating and conveying devices (11) and a device (12) at a distance from a material feed to the evaporator (10) to supply steam heated to above the condensation temperature of water to the ground material which is also heated in this region to above the condensation temperature.
