Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the deterioration of the quality by irradiating a powdery perfume with a specified dose of at least one type of radioactive rays selected from electron rays, X-rays and γ-rays for sterilization.

CONSTITUTION: An oil-base perfume, e.g. of lemon, or water-base perfume, e.g. of banana essence, is mixed with a filler, such as Arabian gum or dextrin, and an emulsifier, the mixture is emulsified with e.g. a high-pressure homogenizer and the emulsion is spray dried to prepare a powdery perfume. This perfume is put into, e.g. a polyethylene bag and is irradiated with 1-50KGy of one or more types of radioactive rays selected from electron rays, such as electron beams, X-rays and γ-rays for sterilization, thus giving a powdery perfume free from the deterioration of qualities, such as the loss or deterioration of the flavor and discoloration.
