Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method for manufacturing a sorbent based on cellulose fibers, pulverized woods and clay minerals for a sorbent absorbing an aqueous liquid of excretions of pet or the like and waste easily by forming a compressed cluster.

CONSTITUTION: (a) A material containing a pulverized cellulose having 0.4-3.0 mm average fiber length and 5-15 wt.% residual moisture component, and/or (b) pulverized woods having 0.05-2.0 mm average fiber length and 10-20 wt.% residual moisture component, and (c) a pulverized smectitic clay mineral having 0.1-1.0 mm average particle size and 5-15 wt.% residual moisture component are mixed homogeneously. A sorbent is produced by (d) compressing the mixture and by (e) grinding the compressed mixture.
