PURPOSE: To prevent the leading-in phenomenon and perform measurement with a high precision for a long time by providing a transducer with a leading-in preventing supporting roller which is brought into contact with a carrying roller of an object to be measured and is turned.
CONSTITUTION: Supporting rollers 32 are set in both side parts of a transducer 2. In the initial stage of the leading-in phenomenon, spacer rollers 8 are led in the ingot advance direction of an arrow (b), and the transducer 2 is moved in the same direction of the arrow (b) in accordance with this leading, and supporting rollers 32 are brought into contact with carrying rollers 4 and are turned. Therefore, the movement of the transducer 2 is stopped. The transducer 2 is brought into contact with carrying rollers 4 through supporting rollers 32, and the frictional resistance is extremely low because of rolling contact. A pressing force f2 is generated in such degree that it can be ignored; and even if the phenomenon that spacer rollers 8 are led in the ingot advance direction of the arrow (b) occurs, the movement of the transducer 2 is stopped.
